JAMES HIXSON
ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS
Jaime Hixson is serving in his third year as the Assistant Director of Operations for the Mountain West Conference. Hixson works directly with Deputy Commissioner Bret Gilliland coordinating football operations including scheduling, instant replay, game officials and other football related items. In addition, Hixson assists Associate Commissioner Dan Butterly on Marketing and Corporate Sponsorship as well as the MWC Men's and Women's Basketball Championships. Hixson also works with the media relations staff when needed.
Prior to his new duties, Hixson served as the MWC Media Relations/Championships intern during the spring of 2005. As part of his responsibility, he handled the credentials for the 2005 MWC Basketball Championships in Denver and assisted with tournament operations at the 2004 MWC Volleyball, 2005 Indoor Track and Field and 2005 MWC Basketball Championships.
Hixson spent the 2003-04 season as a graduate assistant in the University of Illinois Intercollegiate Athletics Department, working in the Corporate Sponsorship and Marketing Department. He also completed two internships - in event management and public relations - working with the Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association, which is a non-profit organization that works to promote the game of baseball and provide opportunities for former major league players.
In 2002, Hixson worked as a sideline media liaison with the Chicago Bears for home games played at Memorial Stadium in Champaign, Ill. He also served as a student assistant in the Illinois Sports Information Office.
A native of Ivesdale, Ill., the 27-year-old Hixson earned his bachelor's degree in liberal arts and sciences with a concentration in speech communications from the University of Illinois in 2002 and received his master's degree in sports management from Illinois in 2004. Hixson now resides in Colorado Springs.
