MWC Volleyball Player Of The Week Colorado State's Jaime Strauss honored.
Nov. 27, 2006 COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Colorado State outside hitter Jaime Strauss earned Mountain West Conference Volleyball Player of the Week honors, marking the first weekly honor of her career. A 6-1 sophomore from Fort Collins, Colo. (Windsor HS), Strauss led the No. 3 seed Rams to their third Mountain West Conference Championship in four years (fourth overall) last week after victories over TCU, San Diego State and top-seeded and ninth-ranked Utah. She recorded a double-double of 24 kills and 12 digs vs. the Horned Frogs in the quarterfinal round of tournament play and posted a match-high 16 kills vs. the Aztecs in the semifinals to go along with eight digs and four total blocks. In the championship match vs. the Utes, Strauss recorded her second double-double of the tournament, posting 12 kills and 12 digs. For the week, Strauss averaged 4.33 kills, 2.67 digs, 0.83 blocks and 0.83 assists per game, while hitting .311 (52-15-119) in the three matches and was named MWC Tournament Most Valuable Player.
