MWC Volleyball Player of the Week BYU's Rachel Dyer earns first career weekly honor.
Nov. 5, 2007 COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - BYU junior middle blocker Rachel Dyer has been named Mountain West Conference Volleyball Player of the Week for the first time in her career. Dyer, from Encinitas, Calif., led the Cougars to a 2-0 record in conference play with victories at TCU and New Mexico. She began the week with 13 kills, seven blocks, five digs and a .346 hitting percentage in BYU's sweep of TCU last Thursday night. Against New Mexico, Dyer had a team-high tying 12 kills on .625 hitting (12-2-16), while recording eight blocks and two assists in the Cougars' four-game win. Her .625 efficiency is a season-high when she posted 10 or more kills. On the week Dyer averaged 3.57 kills, 2.14 blocks, 0.71 digs, 0.43 assists and 5.00 points per game while hitting .452 (25-6-42).
