MWC Volleyball Player Of The Week Utah's Airial Salvo earns first weekly award of the season.
Sept. 18, 2006 COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Utah outside hitter Airial Salvo earned Mountain West Conference Volleyball Player of the Week, marking her first award of the season and third of her career. A 6-0 sophomore from Farmington, Utah, Salvo led the Utes to a 3-0 record last week, including conference wins over Colorado State and Air Force. In a non-conference tilt vs. Weber State, she notched a double-double with 12 kills and 11 digs in Utah's 3-0 win. Salvo also tallied three total blocks and two service aces vs. the Wildcats. She followed with 11 kills, six digs, two blocks and two assists in a sweep over conference foe Colorado State. Against the Falcons, Salvo collected her second double-double of the week (seventh of the season), knocking down 13 kills and tallying 10 digs in Utah's third sweep on the week. Her .478 hitting percentage vs. the Falcons was a season-high. On the week, Salvo averaged 4.00 kills, 3.00 digs, 0.78 blocks and 0.33 service aces per game, while hitting .329 (36-8-85).
