UNLV Advances To Semifinals Of MWC Women's Tennis Championship Rebels defeat Utes, 4-0

No. 3 seed UNLV upended No. 6 seed Utah, 4-0, in the Mountain West Conference Tennis Championship women's quarterfinals at Barnes Tennis Center. The Rebels won singles matches at the No. 2, No. 5 and No. 6 positions after taking the doubles point to open the match. The teams waited out a rain delay from 12:37 p.m. to 3:18 p.m. PT before completing the match.
The UNLV No. 1 duo of Elena Gantcheva and Sharon Marin defeated Utah's Allison Sine and Elizabeth Ferris (8-4), while the Rebels No. 3 doubles team Cindy Treber and Mery Constanti defeated Karine Bourdages and Cheyenne Reveche (8-2). Gantcheva, the MWC Player of the Year, did not complete her singles match vs. Utah's No. 1 Ferris, but the Rebels picked up points in singles play with Nikol Dimotrova's victory at No. 2 over Emily Kwok (6-3, 6-0), Claire Smith's win over the Utes' No. 5 Karine Bourdages (6-0, 6-1) and Linda Tempelfelde's win at No. 6 over Utah's Allison Sine (6-2, 6-1). UNLV advances to the MWC Tournament semifinals for the fifth straight year and will play No. 2 seed BYU Friday.
