Colorado State's Julia Kloppe and Eranne Daugharthy Named Mountain West Conference Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week

April 1, 2008

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Colorado State senior Julia Kloppe and freshman righthander Eranne Daugharthy have been named Mountain West Conference Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively.

Kloppe, from Fort Collins, Colo., hit .444 (4-for-9) last weekend in the Rams' doubleheader sweep over in-state rival Northern Colorado. The first baseman also posted a perfect fielding percentage, recording 20 putouts in the two contests. In game two, as CSU trailed the Bears 6-0 in the top of the third inning, Kloppe knocked out a grand slam to left center to cut the UNC lead to 6-4. With two on in her next at-bat, the senior hit a three-run homer, again to left center, to push the Rams into the lead. She finished the game 3-for-5 from the plate with two home runs, two runs scored and eight RBI, as Colorado State held on for the 18-12 victory.

Daugharthy, an Ottawa, Kan. native, earned her first collegiate victory on Saturday, pitching the final 3.2 innings of relief in the Rams' 18-12 victory over Northern Colorado. The fourth pitcher in the game, Daugharthy recorded the final two outs of the fourth inning, as UNC stormed back to tie the game at 10-10. The freshman righthander held the Bears to two runs on five hits, while striking out three to earn the win.
