Utes Down Northern Colorado, 6-0 Utah goes 5-0 over first weekend.
Feb. 10, 2008 ST. GEORGE, Utah - The Utah women's softball team closed out the Red Desert Classic with a 6-0 win over Northern Colorado to end the tournament with a 5-0 record. The Utes scored four of their six runs in the first inning. Kristie Keller led things off with a double, while Staci Hemingway, Devina Quintero and Hailey Davenport each had hits and scored in the inning. Keller went 2-for-4 in the contest with two doubles and an RBI. In addition, Kelly Matthews had three stolen bases. The two teams left a combined total of 21 runners on base throughout the game, with the Utes leaving nine on base. Utah returns to action Friday, Feb. 15, at the Kajikawa Classic in Tempe, Ariz., beginning with Notre Dame.
