Women's Soccer Players of the Week BYU's Christensen and TCU's Karoly and Walters honored
Oct. 29, 2007 COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - BYU freshman forward Kassidy Christensen and TCU sophomore forward Lizzy Karoly have been named Mountain West Conference Women's Soccer Co-Offensive Players of the Week, while TCU freshman goalkeeper Kelsey Walters has been named the Defensive Player of the Week. Christensen, a native of Bountiful, Utah, earned her first two career starts vs. Wyoming and New Mexico last weekend. The forward scored both game-winners in 1-0 victories vs. the Cowgirls and the Lobos. Christensen now has three consecutive game-winners in MWC play. She also recorded six shots, with three on goal last weekend. Karoly, an Escondido, Calif., native, netted two of TCU's three goals, including the game-winner, against nationally-ranked Utah. With her two-goal performance, she helped the Horned Frogs snap Utah's 13-match unbeaten streak by handing the Utes their first conference loss of the season. The loss also marked Utah's first since Sept. 6. Walters, hailing from Oklahoma City, Okla., recorded 10 saves in a shutout of nationally-ranked Utah. With the shutout, she snapped Utah's 13-match unbeaten streak and held the Utes scoreless for only the third time this season. Walters faced 24 shots on the night, including a penalty kick from Utah's leading scorer, Adele Letro.
