Women's Soccer Players of the Week

San Diego State's Ragudos and Southwick honored

Oct. 22, 2007

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - San Diego State senior forward Jackie Ragudos and freshman goalkeeper Aubree Southwick have been named Mountain West Conference Women's Soccer Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively.

Ragudos, a native of San Diego, Calif., recorded her team-leading sixth and seventh goals of the season and fourth game-winning goal this past weekend. Ragudos scored the second goal in a 2-0 victory over nationally-ranked BYU and earned the winning score in the Aztecs' 1-0 win vs. Wyoming. The Aztecs' two goals against BYU marked the first time this season the Cougars allowed more than one goal in a game. The forward also leads the team in goals, points, shots and assists, while helping SDSU to a 3-1 conference record, the Aztecs' most wins to start MWC play since 2002.

Southwick, a Danville, Calif., native, recorded her team-leading seventh and eighth shutouts this season. Her shutout again BYU marked her first career win over a ranked team. In her shutout of Wyoming, Southwick also recorded her first assist of the year on a free-kick that landed in Wyoming territory. Her performance over the weekend moved her into third place on the SDSU single-season shutout list and lowered her season GAA to 0.89.
