Women's Soccer Players of the Week Utah's Letro and UNLV's Morin honored
Sept. 24, 2007 COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Utah junior forward Adele Letro and UNLV sophomore defender Dani Morin have been named Mountain West Conference Women's Soccer Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively. Letro, a native of Davis, Calif., scored the game-winning goal in both of Utah's wins last week. She scored both goals in a 2-0 win over Cal Poly, marking her sixth multi-goal game of her career. Against Washington, Letro assisted on a second-half goal, which tied the game at 2-2 and eventually scored the game-winner in a 3-2 victory. Over the weekend, the forward scored on half her shot attempts (3-of-6). Her three-goal weekend moved her into fourth place on Utah's career goal list with 29. Morin, a Saugus, Calif., native, was the anchor for UNLV's defense over the weekend, leading the team to a win over 23rd-ranked Washington State and a scoreless tie vs. Iowa State. She helped the Rebels hold both opponents to just 14 shots over 200 minutes of play. Morin was matched up against the top scorers for both Washington State (Kiersten Dallstream) and Iowa State (Leslie Hill). She held Dallstream, the team leader with three goals and seven points, to no shots for the game, and held Hill, Iowa State's leading scorer with two goals and six points, without a shot in the match. UNLV goalkeeper Alicia Lugo was forced to make just one save over the 110 minutes vs. Iowa State.
