New Mexico Holds 14-Stroke Lead over BYU After Second Round of 2008 Mountain West Conference Women's Golf Championship

Albuquerque, N.M. - New Mexico remains atop the leader board at the 2008 Mountain West Conference Women's Golf Championship at the UNM Championship Course in Albuquerque, N.M. The Lobos carded a second day 291 and have a two-day total of 589 (+5). BYU remains in second place firing a 296 for round two, bringing them to 603 (+19) for the championship. UNLV stands in third after carding a second round 306, moving the team to 614 (+30) for the tournament. TCU is currently in fourth and has a 36-hole team score of 626. Colorado State is fifth (638) followed by Wyoming (646) and San Diego State (654) in sixth and seventh place, respectively. Individually, New Mexico's Britney Choy played her way into sole possession of first place, shooting a second round two-under-par 71 for a 36 hole total of one-under 145. New Mexico's Morgan Grantham, yesterday's leader Jodi Ewart, and BYU's Natalia Jimenez sit two strokes back of Choy at +1 (147). Choy and Grantham carded the lowest round of the day with a two-under-par 71. The final round begins Saturday at 8:30 a.m. (MT).
