New Mexico Holds Nine-Stroke Lead over BYU After First Round of 2008 Mountain West Conference Women's Golf Championship
April 17, 2008 Albuquerque, N.M. - New Mexico leads the seven-team field after the first day of action at the 2008 Mountain West Conference Women's Golf Championship at the UNM Championship Course in Albuquerque, N.M. The Lobos carded a team total of 298 (+6) for round one and hold a nine-shot advantage over BYU, who currently sits second at 307 (+15). UNLV is third with a team score of 308 (+16), followed by Wyoming (319), TCU (324) and Colorado State (324) tied for fifth, and San Diego State seventh (326). Individually, New Mexico's Jodi Ewart, winner of the 2007 MWC Championship, shot a one-under-par 72 to take the first-round lead. UNLV's Therese Koelbaek sits one stroke behind Ewart in second place with an even-par 73. The second round begins Friday at 8:30 a.m. (MT).
