SDSU Women's Golf Improves To 10th After Final Round Of Hawaii Tournament Freshman Samantha Roberts ties for 30th overall

The San Diego State women's golf team continued its jump up the standings as the Aztecs finished in 10th place overall at 98-over 962 Wednesday at the 23rd Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational in Kanehoe, Hawaii. The Aztecs logged a final round 323 to beat out Gonzaga by eight strokes in SDSU's first 54-hole event of the spring at the par-72, 5,907-yard Kaneohe Klipper Golf Course. Freshman Samantha Roberts (Carlsbad, Calif.) finished as the Aztecs' top golfer for the second consecutive tournament, posting a final round 77 to tie for 30th overall at 22-over 238. Junior Maki Kamimura (West Covina, Calif.) also recorded her best score of the three-day event with a 77 to move from 59th place into a tie for 35th at 24-over 240. SDSU freshman Stephanie Arcala (Oceanside, Calif.) was the team's top golfer through the first 36 holes, but logged a disappointing 85 in the final 18 to end up at 29-over par. Redshirt sophomore Petra Cole (San Diego, Calif.) had the team's third-best round on the day with an 84, finishing just one stroke behind Arcala on the individual leaderboard in a tie for 64th place with a 30-over 246. Senior Anna Booth (Coffs Harbour, Australia), who logged a team tournament-low 76 on Tuesday, finished with an 87 in the final 18 holes to tie for 72nd place with a 249. Oklahoma State, which is ranked 15th nationally, logged the only sub-300 round by the 16-team field in the final 18 holes to capture the title by 13 strokes over No. 6 Arizona with a 16-over 880. The Wildcats, however, did claim the individual title as Alison Walshe was the only golfer to end up under par at 3-under 213, five strokes better than her nearest competitor, Oklahoma State's Pernilla Lindberg. San Diego State rounds out its pre-conference tournament slate with a pair of events in two weeks at the Sacramento State Invitational, March 31 - April 1 and at the annual BYU Dixie Classic, April 1-2. Final-scores with relation to par March 19, at the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational, played at the par-72, 5,907-yard Kaneohe Klipper Golf Course in Kaneohe, Hawaii.
