2007 MWC Women's Basketbll Tournament Post Game Notes

March 7, 2007

  • BYU wins in the quarterfinals for the seventh time in the eight-year history of the MWC Tournament. The Cougars improved to 13-6 all-time in the tournament, while Air Force is now 1-8.
  • BYU's 32-point margin of victory is the fourth-largest in MWC Tournament history. It was also the second-largest margin of victory for the Cougars this season as they beat Weber State, 79-42, on Dec. 14.
  • BYU went on a 19-0 run over a 7:45 span, turning a tied game into a 29-10 advantage with 4:55 to play in the first half. Air Force came no closer then 17 points the rest of the game.
  • BYU's leading scorer and Co-MWC Player of the Year, Dani Wright, left the game with an ankle injury with 13 minutes left in the first half, and did not return.
  • BYU's Jennie Keele finished with a career-high tying five steals in the game, which also ties for third-most in MWC tournament history.
  • BYU advances to the semifinal round for the third straight year, and will meet the winner of the Utah-TCU matchup at 2:30 p.m. PT Friday.
