Mountain West Conference Announces 2007-08 Men's Tennis All-Conference Awards TCU's Cosmin Cotet and Utah's Zach Ganger named Co-Players of the Year
April 23, 2008 COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Mountain West Conference announced its 2007-08 All-Conference team and individual awards for men's tennis today. The MWC awards are selected by the league's seven head coaches. TCU senior Cosmin Cotet and Utah senior Zach Ganger were named MWC Co-Players of the Year after posting 23-8 and 26-8 marks, respectively, this season. Currently ranked 36th nationally, Cotet collected a 5-1 record in MWC matches at the No. 1 position and netted 10 wins against ranked opponents during the 2007-08 campaign. Ganger, who is currently ranked 116th nationally, went 6-0 in league matches at the No. 1 position and registered three victories vs. ranked opponents this season. BYU's Thomas Shubert earned MWC Freshman of the Year honors after posting a 21-14 record in singles play this season, including a 3-3 mark in MWC matches at the No. 1 position. New Mexico head coach Alan Dils garnered MWC Coach of the Year accolades. Now in his 12th year with the Lobos, Dils guided 44th-ranked New Mexico to a share of the MWC regular-season title with a 5-1 record in league matches and an 18-7 overall mark. New Mexico and TCU each had a league-high three singles players on the all-MWC team, followed by San Diego State, UNLV and Utah with two apiece. New Mexico had two doubles teams net All-MWC honors, while San Diego State, TCU, UNLV and Utah each had one.
