MWC Weekly Tennis Awards SDSU's Markus Dickhardt and Utah's Elizabeth Ferris net honors
April 5, 2006 COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - San Diego State's Markus Dickhardt and Utah's Elizabeth Ferris have been named the Mountain West Conference Men's and Women's Tennis Players of the Week, respectively. A junior from Marburg, Germany, Dickhardt was a perfect 6-0 in singles and doubles matches last week, including a pair of wins over ranked doubles teams. He teamed with Benedikt Stronk to defeat the No. 26 pairing from Utah (8-5) and the No. 52-ranked duo from Air Force (8-7 [7-0]). The Aztec doubles team of Dickhardt and Stronk also defeated UNLV (8-3), marking a 3-0 record in No. 1 doubles for the week. He defeated Utah's Thomas Grzyb (6-4, 6-3) in No. 1 singles, Harvard's Chris Clayton (6-4, 6-3) in No. 2 singles and UNLV's Romain Massero (6-4, 6-0) in No. 3 singles last week as well, while helping the Aztecs to a 3-0 start in MWC play. A sophomore from Anaheim, Calif., Ferris upset 23rd-ranked Olga Boulytcheva of BYU (3-6, 7-6 [3], 11-9) in No. 1 singles as the Utes nearly upset the No. 23 Cougars, falling 3-4 in the match. Ferris also defeated Weber State's Elana Smit (6-1, 6-2), helping Utah to a 7-0 win over the Wildcats. In No. 1 doubles, Ferris teamed with Allison Hansen-Sine to defeat Weber
