TCU Advances To Semifinals Of MWC Men's Tennis Championship Horned Frogs down Falcons, 5-0, in quarterfinals

TCU moved past Air Force in the Mountain West Conference Tennis Championship men's quarterfinals today, 5-0. The Horned Frogs took singles matches at the No. 3, 4, 5 and 6 positions to advance to the semifinals on Friday vs. the winner of No. 3 BYU and No. 6 New Mexico at Barnes Tennis Center.
The Horned Frogs took the doubles point to start the match, winning at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. TCU's Kriegler Brink and Jacopo Tezza improved to 15-4 in doubles play this season after defeating Air Force's Robby Alexander and Greg Ferry (8-1). TCU's Radu Barbu and Cosmin Cotet improved to 10-1 this season in doubles with a win over the Falcons' Keith Cronican and Ryan White (8-2).
Jacopo Tezza remained perfect at No. 4 singles this season (13-0) after defeating Air Force's Keith Cronican (6-0, 6-3). Radu Barbu improved to 12-4 in dual match singles competition on the year by defeating the Falcons' Greg Ferry (6-0, 6-1) at the No. 5 spot. Cosmin Cotet and Kriegler Brink also posted victories at the No. 3 and No. 6 positions, respectively, for TCU.
MWC Player of the Year Shannon Buck of Air Force, 83-7 in his career and 29-5 this year at singles, was unable to complete his doubles or singles match today.
Men's and women's competition continues at Barnes Tennis Center with quarterfinals today and semifinal matches Friday. The men's championship is set for 10 a.m. Saturday, followed by the women's championship at 2 p.m.
