Mountain West Conference Announces Men's Co-Golfers of the Month Colorado State's Bryce Hanstad and UNLV's Seung-su Han October honor
Oct. 31, 2007 COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Colorado State sophomore Bryce Hanstad and UNLV junior Seung-su Han have been selected the Mountain West Conference Men's Co-Golfers of the Month for October.Hanstad competed in four tournaments during the month of October and posted a scoring average of 73.17 over 12 rounds. He paced the Rams at three of the four tournaments and led Colorado State to the team title at the Del Walker Intercollegiate. Hanstad, a Alexandria, Minn., product, began the month tying for sixth place at the Fighting Irish Gridiron Challenge, Sept. 30-Oct. 2, with a 3-over-par 213 (74-73-66) on the 7,032-yard Warren Golf Course in South Bend, Ind. His third-round 66 was a career-low and the lowest 18-hole total by a CSU golfer since Zen Brown's school-record 63 at the 2006 Cougar Classic. At the Wolf Pack Classic at Wolf Run Golf Club in Reno, Nev., Oct. 8-9, Hanstad tied for 13th out of 99 individuals and finished with a 1-under-par 215 (72-72-71) on the 7,100-yard course. In his third tournament of the month at The Club Glove Intercollegiate, Oct. 22-23, Hanstad tied for 43rd place after posting a 54-hole total of 242 (81-83-78) on the 6,985-yard Saticoy Country Club course. His month concluded with a career-best finish at the Del Walker Intercollegiate at the Virginia Country Club, Oct. 25-26 in Long Beach, Calif. Hanstad tied for second place out of a field of 72 individuals after firing three sub-par rounds (69-71-68) and finishing with a 5-under-par 208. It was a career-low 54-hole total and led Colorado State to its first team title since 2004. In UNLV's only tournament of the month, Han, an Incheon, South Korea, native, lead the Rebels to a third-place finish at the Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate Oct. 8-9 in Birmingham, Ala. The 12-team tournament featured nine of the Top 50 programs in the country, led by 3rd-ranked Alabama, who captured the overall title. Han carded a 54-hole total of 11-under, 202 (66-75-71) on the 6,958-yard Old Overton Golf Course. A two-time all-Mountain West Conference golfer, Han has posted a 68.33 scoring average in six rounds played this fall. This marks Han's third career golfer of the month award and second this season. Hanstad is a first-time honoree.
