2006 All-MWC Men's Golf Team Announced At Conclusion Of Championship BYU's Jake Ellison named Player of the Year, while UNLV's Seung-su Han named Freshman of the Year.
April 29, 2006 SUNRIVER, Ore. - The Mountain West Conference announced its 2006 men's golf all-conference team and individual awards at the conclusion of its championship today at the Crosswater Course at Sunriver Resort in Sunriver, Ore. BYU junior Jake Ellison was selected as player of the year, while UNLV's Seung-su Han was named freshman of the year. Coach of the year honors went to Bruce Brockbank of BYU.
Ellison ranked second in the Mountain West Conference with a 71.21 stroke average. He recorded six top-10 finishes in 2006, including one tournament title. He is the first Cougar to capture MWC Golfer of the Year accolades since the inception of the league in 1999.
UNLV's Seung-su Han garnered freshman of the year honors after posting a 72.52 stroke average this season. Han collected two top five finishes this season, including one individual tournament crown. He is the second straight Rebel, and fourth in the last seven years, to be named freshman of the year.
BYU's Bruce Brockbank captured coach of the year honors after leading the Cougars to a top 10 ranking according to both GolfStat.com and GolfWeek.com. This is Brockbank's second coach of the year honor since 1999.
