BYU Continues to Lead After Day Two of 2007 MWC Men's Golf Championship The competition for medalist honors is deadlocked with a three-way tie atop the leader board.

TUCSON, Ariz. - BYU fired a four-over-par 288 for an eight-under 560 to maintain the lead after the second round of the 2007 Mountain West Conference Men's Golf Championship at Omni Tucson National Golf Course and Resort. The Cougars extended their lead over second-place UNLV to eight strokes as the Rebels shot nine-over 293 for a 36-hole total of even-par 568. TCU climbed into third position with the best team score of the day at one-over 285 on the par-71, 7,136-yard Catalina Course. The Horned Frogs have a two-day total of one-over 569, followed by San Diego State in fourth place with a three-over 571. BYU is in search of its first championship title since 2001, while UNLV posted MWC tournament victories in 2000 and 2002. TCU joined the MWC in 2005 and finished fifth in its inaugural championship appearance last year.
The competition for medalist honors is deadlocked with a three-way tie atop the leader board. Day one leader Sueng-su Han of UNLV carded an even-par 71 in the second round for a six-under 136 total. Han is tied atop the standings with TCU's Robby Ormand and San Diego State's Adam Porzak. Ormund fired a three-under 68 today, while Porzak shot a two-under 69. Colorado State and four-time defending MWC tournament champion New Mexico are tied for fifth place in the team standings at 576. The Rams carded a five-over 289 in the second round, while the Lobos posted a 287. Utah is in seventh place at 15-over 598 while Wyoming is eighth at 605 and Air Force is ninth at 612. The final round of the 2007 MWC Men's Golf Championship will begin at 8:30 a.m. Saturday morning. The public is invited to come out and watch some of the best teams in collegiate golf.
