Colorado State men's golf takes eighth Morris ties for 14th

GOODYEAR, Ariz. - After three rounds of play at the Ron Moore Invitational, the Colorado State men's golf team finished eighth on Sunday. The team carded rounds of 285, 279 and 295 for a three-round total of 859 and ousted eight teams in the process: Northern Iowa, Iowa State, New Mexico State, Kansas, Southern Utah, Nebraska, Air Force Academy and Hawaii. The finish is the Rams' ninth Top 20 finish and eighth Top 10 finish of the season. Dustin Morris led the Rams throughout the tournament and shot a final round 72, even par, to finish in a tie for 14th with Utah's Dustin Pimm and Chance Cota, Northern Iowa's Andy White and Darren Hupfer of the Canadian Development team. Zen Brown and Bryce Hanstad proved to be each other's toughest competitor both finishing in a tie for 28th. Brown shot a final round 76 to finish with a three-round total 216, even par. Hanstad shot a final round of 74, 2-over-par, to secure the tie. Riley Arp finished in a tie for 34th to round out the scoring for the Rams while Sean McNamara tied for 61st. Kansas State took home the team title and Troy Merritt of Boise State clinched individual honors for the second year in a row. Daniel Wood of Kansas State and Ohio State's Dan Rush tied for first to earn honors in the individual tournament. The Rams will return home before traveling to Phoenix, Ariz., April 11-13, to compete in the ASU Thunderbird Invitational, the season's final tournament before the Mountain West Conference Championships in late April. 8 Colorado State 285-279-295--859
