Box Score

LAS VEGAS (AP) - Sergio Aguayo made a 41-yard field goal with no time left to give UNLV a 34-31 win over Idaho in a non-conference game Saturday night.

Aguayo's kick came after first-year UNLV coach Mike Sanford went for it on 4th-and-8 from the Idaho 40-yard line with 2:01 left. Quarterback Shane Steichen completed a pass up the middle to Casey Flair for 9 yards to keep the drive alive. Three plays later, Steichen completed a 14-yard pass to Greg Estandia on 3rd-and-13 to the Idaho 20 with 38 seconds left.

The completion set up Aguayo's second field goal of the night.

Steichen finished 22-of-34 for 250 yards with two touchdowns and one interception. He also rushed for 104 yards on 17 carries.

The win ended a six-game losing streak for the Mountain West Conference Rebels (1-1). The Vandals, from the WAC, dropped to 0-2.

Idaho's Steve Wichman completed 19-of-30 for 390 yards, three touchdowns and one interception. Daniel Smith had 141 yards on six receptions.
