2008 NCAA Division I Men's Basketball First/Second Rounds in Denver Sold Out Applications for tickets to the event will be accepted until May 1, 2007, and a random-selection process to determine ticket recipients will be conducted.
April 23, 2007 Colorado Springs, Colo. - The Mountain West Conference and Colorado State University announced today that the number of applications for tickets to the first-/second-round session of the 2008 NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Championship in Denver, Colorado, has exceeded the number of available seats for the event. Therefore, based on ticket sales, the Denver site has officially sold-out. However, per NCAA policy, applications for tickets to the event will be accepted until May 1, 2007, and a random-selection process to determine ticket recipients will be conducted.
Denver's Pepsi Center (19,555) will serve as one of eight host facilities for the first-/second round sessions of the 2008 NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Championship and is the second venue to sell out behind the Qwest Center in Omaha, Nebraska.
"The city of Denver and state of Colorado have once again shown tremendous interest in NCAA Basketball," commented Mountain West Conference Commissioner Craig Thompson. "This marks the second time in five years an NCAA Basketball tournament in Denver will be sold out, which is a testament to the high level of excitement generated by one of the nation's premier events."
"This quick sell-out reinforces Denver's passion for college basketball," said Colorado State Director of Athletics Paul Kowalczyk. "We look forward to being a part of one of the most significant sports events in the country."
Per NCAA policy, applications for tickets to the event will be accepted until May 1, 2007. At that time, ticket sales will close and all applications will be submitted into a random-selection process. By June 1, the Mountain West Conference will notify all ticket applicants whether they were successful in acquiring tickets to the championship. Applicants who were unsuccessful in obtaining tickets through the application process will be provided the opportunity to keep their application active and remain on a waiting list should tickets become available or have their order refunded less the ticket application service charge of $5.00 per ticket.
The first-/second-round session of the 2008 NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Championship in Denver, Colorado will be conducted March 20 and 22 at Pepsi Center. For those fans that are unsuccessful in acquiring tickets, the NCAA will conduct an open practice day, showcasing all eight teams at the Denver site, on Wednesday, March 19, 2008. There is no cost to attend open practice day.
The NCAA reminds fans that purchasing tickets from secondary unauthorized vendors may result in fraudulent purchases. Fans are encouraged to purchase tickets from NCAA member institutions and companies authorized by the NCAA to sell or resell championship tickets. |
