BYU'S Lee Cummard and UNLV's Wink Adams Named MWC Basketball Co-Players of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - BYU junior guard Lee Cummard and UNLV junior guard Wink Adams have been named the Mountain West Conference Men's Basketball Co-Players of the Week.

Cummard, a Mesa, Ariz., native, led BYU to conference road victories over Air Force (69-53) and Wyoming (73-63) last week. On the week, he scored 23.0 points per game on 64.0 percent (16-for-25) shooting from the floor, 60.0 percent (6-for-10) accuracy from three-point range and an 88.9 percent (8-of-9) conversion rate at the free-throw line. Cummard also contributed 8.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 1.0 steals and 0.5 blocks per game. He scored 21 points on 8-of-12 shooting against Air Force, connecting on 3-of-6 attempts behind the arc, while adding a game-high five assists, eight rebounds, one block and one steal. Against Wyoming, Cummard scored a game-high 25 points on 8-of-13 shooting. He also tallied eight rebounds, two assists and one steal vs. the Cowboys.

Adams, a Houston, Texas, product, led UNLV to a 2-0 league record last week with wins at TCU (70-58) and at home against New Mexico (79-60). Against TCU, he scored a game-high 25 points, 18 of which came in the second half. Adams also tallied five assists, three rebounds and one steal vs. the Horned Frogs. In the Runnin' Rebels win over New Mexico, Adams scored 17 of his game-high 24 points in the first half, shooting 6-of-9 from the floor before the intermission. He finished the game shooting 9-for-14 (64.3 percent) to go with four rebounds, three steals and one assist in 28 minutes of action. For the week, Adams averaged 24.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists and two steals per game while shooting 54.8 percent (17-for-31) from the floor.
