2007 MWC Men's Basketball Tournament Post Game Notes

March 8, 2007

  • After Air Force grabbed its first lead of the game at the 4:25 mark, Wyoming responded by scoring eight of the final 12 points of the half to take a 28-25 lead at intermission.

  • With a three-pointer at the 18:26 mark of the first half, Brandon Ewing become the first sophomore in the history of Wyoming basketball (102 years) to reach 1,000 career points.

  • In the two regular-season meetings between Air Force and Wyoming, the Falcons shot a combined 56.5 percent (52-for-92), while Wyoming shot just 36.3 percent (37-for-102). Tonight the Falcons shot 43.2 percent (19-for-44) and the Cowboys ended the night at 53.8 percent (21-for-39).

  • Air Force's Andrew Henke set a career-high in points and minutes by converting on 4-of-6 from the floor for 16 points and playing 30 minutes.

  • Wyoming pushed its lead to seven points with a 7-1 run that began at the 16:53 mark of the second half and ended with the score 37-30 at the 14:33 mark.

  • Twenty-two of the final 28 points of the game were scored from the free throw line.

  • Air Force cut the Wyoming lead back to one point, 48-47, at the 6:49 mark with an 8-2 run that began with 9:10 left in the game.

  • The Falcons' Jacob Burtschi, who shot 82.3 percent on the season from the free throw line, finished the game 3-for-9.

  • The Falcons set an MWC Tournament record for fewest turnovers with three (the old record was six by BYU in the 2000 MWC championships). The mark is also a school record, surpassing the old record of five.

  • Air Force falls to 0-8 in MWC tournament history.

  • Air Force loses its fourth consecutive game for the first time since the 2002-03 season.

  • Wyoming has now won all three of its MWC tournament meetings against Air Force.

  • No. 5 seed Wyoming advances to the semifinals and will play top seed BYU Friday at 6:00 p.m.
