2007 All-Mountain West Conference Cross Country Teams Announced BYU's Ed Eyestone and Colorado State's Bryan Berryhill named Coach of the Year
Oct. 27, 2007 ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - University of New Mexico senior Jeremy Johnson and Colorado State University senior April Thomas were named Men's and Women's Athletes of the Year, respectively, to lead the 2007 All-Mountain West Conference Cross Country teams. BYU's Ed Eyestone was named Men's Coach of the Year, while Colorado State's Bryan Berryhill earned Women's Coach of the Year honors.Johnson became the second New Mexico runner to win Athlete of the Year accolades, joining Shadrack Kiptoo-Biwott, who took home the award in 2004. Thomas, meanwhile, became the first Colorado State woman to win an MWC individual cross country title. CSU swept the Freshman of the Year awards with Jake Keyser and Allison Gohl recording the top finish by a true freshman in the men's and women's races. BYU led the way with three men on the first team all-conference squad, followed by Air Force, which had two first team honorees. New Mexico and Wyoming had one apiece. The Lobos had three runners earn second team all-MWC honors, followed by Air Force (2), BYU (1) and Colorado State (1). Colorado State placed three runners on the women's first team all-conference squad, followed by BYU with two, and New Mexico and UNLV with one apiece. BYU had four women earn second team all-conference honors, followed by Wyoming with two and CSU with one.
