Sept. 26, 2007 COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - TCU sophomore Festus Kigen and BYU freshman Cecily Lemmon have been selected as the Mountain West Conference men's and women's cross country athletes of the week. Kigen receives his first athlete of the week honor after finishing second overall at the Texas A&M Invitational held on Sept. 22, in College Station, Texas. The Eldoret, Kenya, native crossed the finish line in 24:15, leading the Horned Frogs to a fifth-place finish on the Texas A&M Intramural Fields course. Kigen's time is his fastest of the season and currently leads the MWC in the 8K category. Lemmon, hailing from Vacaville, Calif., crossed the finish line in 14:39 at the Big Wave Invitational held on Sept. 22, earning the Cougar her first athlete of the week honor. Lemmon's time currently qualifies her for the front-runner position in the MWC on a 4K course this season. Despite feeling ill the week leading up to the race, the redshirt freshman led her team to its first title of the season on the Klipper Golf Course in Kaneohe, Hawaii.
