Wyoming's Mark Korir and Colorado State's Heather Loseke Named Mountain West Conference Men's and Women's Cross Country Athletes of the Week

Both runners led at last week's Wyoming Invitational.

Sept. 6, 2007

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Wyoming junior Mark Korir and Colorado State senior Heather Loseke have been selected as the Mountain West Conference men's and women's cross country athletes of the week.

Korir, hailing from Eldoret, Kenya, won the Wyoming Invitational last Friday while setting a new course record with a time of 21:42:07. Korir finished the 6K nearly 25 seconds ahead of the field on the Jacoby Golf Course in Laramie, Wyo. His time shattered the previous record of 22:12:00 set two years ago by Nick Wilson of Air Force and led the Cowboys to a third place finish.

Loseke, a Pueblo, Colo., native, clinched the women's title at the Wyoming Invitational. Her 5K time of 14:42:01 helped the Rams to their fourth consecutive first place finish at the Invitational. The Rams placed eight runners in the top-ten spots on the way to the title, defeating host Wyoming by 29 points.
