Flyin' Frogs set to host MWC Championships TCU will begin action tomorrow in Fort Worth.

FORT WORTH, Texas - Nationally ranked TCU will open postseason competition tomorrow by hosting the 2008 Mountain West Conference Track & Field Championships at the Lowdon Track and Field Complex.
"As always, we expect to come in and be one of the top teams in the conference. We are going to approach this in a championship manner and see where we are at on Saturday," said head coach Darryl Anderson. "We have been training since September, so it is all mental now. It is important for us to stay focused and be relaxed this week. This meet hopefully will allow us to see where we are at going into regionals." The four-day meet begins on Wednesday, May 14 with the heptathlon and decathlon at noon and 12:30 p.m., respectively. Both events will continue on Thursday, while the men's hammer throw is slated to begin at 5:30 p.m. Action on the track will begin on Friday with the men's field events starting at 10:30 a.m. with the men's high jump. The women will begin action at 1 p.m. with the women's long jump. Running events on Friday are set to begin at approximately 7:30 a.m. with the women's 10,000 meters. Live results will also be available on www.gofrogs.com each day. In 2007, the women's team finished in second place behind BYU, while the men placed fourth overall at the conference championships. In it's last outing, the Flyin' Frogs posted seven NCAA regional qualifying marks to close out regular season competition at the UTA Open on the campus of UT-Arlington. Sophomore Tommy Killen led TCU in the throws, tossing the discus 181 feet, 3 inches to place first overall with a regional qualifying mark. Killen finished in first-place for the fifth time this outdoor season. On the women's side, Virgil Hodge led all TCU runners in the women's 200 meters, crossing the finish line in 23.06. Hodge, who finished in second-place with an NCAA regional qualifying mark, recorded the No. 9 time in the NCAA this season.
Last Year At The Mountain West Conference Championships In a day filled with victories, TCU's top performances were handed in by Delwayne Delaney and Virgil Hodge, who each won the men's and women's 100 and 200 meters. The victories marked the second consecutive year that a TCU student-athlete had won both the men's and women's 100 and 200 meters at the MWC Outdoor Championships. Delaney won the first league title of his career with an NCAA regional qualifying time of 10.40 in the 100 and he won the 200 with a time of 21.24. Hodge captured the crown in the 100 with a regional qualifying time of 11.40 and the 200 with a regional qualifying time of 23.04. Delaney's victories in the 100 and 200 meters, coupled with victories in 4x100 and 4x400 relay earned him the Men's High-Point Award. Freshman Dell Guy was named Men's Freshman of the Year after placing third in the 200 and 400 meters and running a leg on TCU's 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams that won titles. Also winning two league titles at the MWC Outdoor Championships was Jonathan Jackson, who won the long jump and triple jump.
This Week At The Mountain West Conference Championships
The National Rankings The TCU women round out the women's top 20 at No. 16, led by sprinter Virgil Hodge, the nation's second-ranked female in the 200 meters. On the men's side, the Flyin' Frogs top ranked individual is triple jumper Jonathan Jackson, the NCAA's No. 1 jumper, while the men's 4x400 unit is ranked fourth overall on the descending order list. The USTFCCCA Division I indoor track and field rankings are compiled solely from NCAA descending order lists.
Flyin' Frogs Represented In World Rankings On the women's side, Virgil Hodge has posted the 25th fastest time in the women's 100 and the 10th fastest in the 200. Both the 4x100 and 4x400 are ranked in the world standings, while Kishelle Paul is also ranked in the women's 400 meter hurdles.
TCU In The NCAA Heading Into MWC Championships On the men's side, Jonathan Jackson leads the Flying Frogs at No. 1 overall in the triple jump. Junior Justyn Warner sits at No. 8 in the men's 100 after a solid weekend last weekend. Freshman Mychal Dungey is currently ranked 11th overall in the men's 200, while Otis McDaniel is No. 14. Tommy Killen sits at No. 13 in the discus. The men's 4x400 is currently the fourth best unit in the nation, while the 4x100 unit is No. 10 in the NCAA. On the women's side, senior Virgil Hodge currently sits at No. 7 in the women's 100 and No. 2 in the 200, while Kishelle Paul leads all individuals at No. 6 in the women's 400-meter hurdles. TCU's 4x100 relay is currently ranked No. 6 in the NCAA, while sophomore Neidra Covington currently has the 13th best jump in the nation in the triple jump.

Overall, the Flyin' Frogs have the top times in the 100, 200, 110m high hurdles, 4x100, 4x400, triple jump and long jump on the men's side. The Purple and White women claim the top spot in the 100, 200, triple jump, 400m hurdles, 4x100 and 4x400.
