MWC Swimmers and Divers of the Week
Dec. 20, 2007 COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - TCU senior Jonathan Berrettini and freshman Kyle Callens were named MWC Men's Swimmer and Diver of the Week, respectively, while UNLV junior Bailey Kuestermeyer and senior Wendy Williams earned MWC Women's Swimmer and Diver of the Week, respectively. Berrettini earned three top-three finishes, including a win in the 100 backstroke, at the UNLV Winter Invitational in Las Vegas, Nev., last weekend. He also competed on relay teams that posted two wins, as well as second- and third-place finishes. Individually, Berrettini took the top spot in the 100 backstroke with a time of 48.89 and placed third in the 50 freestyle (20.69) and 100 freestyle (45.32). His time in the 100 back ranks third in TCU history. Berrettini also contributed to Horned Frog relay victories in the 200 freestyle relay (1:22.24) and the 200 medley releay (1:31.11), while helping TCU's 400 freestyle (3:02.29) and 400 medley relay (3:23.80) squads to a second- and third-place finish, respectively. Callens recorded two runner-up finishes at the UNLV Winter Invite. His score of 257.55 in the 1-meter dive placed him second out of 22 competitors, while he notched 259.20 points in the 3-meter. Kuestermeyer won two individual titles and claimed second place in a third event while swimming the breaststroke legs on two relay teams at the UNLV Winter Invite. She began with wins in the 500 freestyle (4:57.37) and 400 individual medley (4:25.81), while finishing second in the 200 breaststroke (2:19.68). She also assisted the 400 medley relay team to a second-place finish (3:50.35) and the 200 medley relay squad to a third-place clocking (1:46.55). Williams had two second-place finishes at the UNLV Winter Invite. In the 1-meter dive she scored 215.65, while her score of 210.70 placed her second in the 3-meter dive.
