MWC Women's Swimmer and Diver of the Week

Wyoming's Lesley Young and New Mexico's Carrie Quinn honored.

Dec. 13, 2007

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Wyoming freshman Lesley Young and New Mexico's Carrie Quinn earned Mountain West Conference Women's Swimmer and Diver of the Week honors, respectively.

Young, from Turlock, Calif., helped the Cowgirls improve to 2-0 in MWC dual meets by winning both events she competed in during Wyoming's victory over San Diego State. She began the meet by helping lead the 200-medley relay team to a first-place clocking of 1:48.18. She followed by breaking the Corbett Pool record in the 100-breaststroke, swimming a time of 1:04.81 for the win.

Quinn, a San Clemente, Calif., native, placed second in both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events in the Lobos' non-conference dual meet at Northern Arizona, provisionally qualifying for the NCAA Championship in both events. In the 1-meter dive, she scored 268.95 points, while scoring 283.59 in the 3-meter event.
