SETTING THE RECORD STRAIGHT is a feature of TheMWC.com where the Mountain West will correct or clarify misleading or inaccurate information appearing in press accounts.
Brian Murphy's article in the July 20th edition of the Idaho Statesman referencing the Mountain West Conference television contract with CSTV was not accurately reported. In Murphy's description of the Western Athletic Conference's rejection of an ESPN contract extension he wrote, "The current contract represented a tripling of the WAC's previous deal with ESPN, but is far short of the seven-year, $48 million contract the Mountain West Conference signed with CSTV." Murphy mistakenly referenced the MWC's previous television contract in the story. The MWC's new 10-year agreement with CSTV and Comcast is a 71 percent increase in rights fees from the old contract.
